Sheldrick's Elephant orphanage
Did you know that there are organizations that rescue elephants with the intent to release them back into the wild? Baby elephants can be orphaned for any number of reasons (poaching, illness, etc), and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust operates an elephant orphanage adjacent to the Nairobi National Park that offers opportunities to contribute to their mission.
Our Elephant Orphanage Experience
We had family in town, and there's probably nothing more fun for all ages than seeing baby elephants playing. We were so impressed by the operation that we adopted an elephant! In the local Maa language, his name “esoit” means rock. This is his story.
