Kenyan Safari Parks

Going on safari is an amazing opportunity when on assignment to Kenya, and we were able to visit several of the major national parks and reserves before we had to leave. With 23 National Parks, 4 National Marine Parks, 28 National Reserves, 6 National Marine Reserves, and 4 National Sanctuaries, we knew that we'd have to prioritize. This post also includes a list of recommended Safari gear that we found beneficial on our trips.

    Recommended Safari Gear
This is the field-tested list that was updated each time we realized we needed or forgot something
    .

Cameras : know how they work & what their strengths & weaknesses are... (photo & video)

GoPro 8 black - stabilized videos, wide angle, and 4K images. Easy swap batteries. Con: no zoom, can’t charge while using?

4 smart phones. Medium zoom capable, photo and video. Easy to share. Can be used during charging. Adds geotag info! Con: weak in twilight, grainy zoom videos, shaky video

Two canon PowerShot point and shoot (one damaged during safari). Lightweight/ pocket sized. Best zoom lens. Can take photo during video. Con: minimal video stabilization. Extra battery.

SLR: currently with the rest of our stuff. Might need better zoom  50-300/100-400? Con: Heavy. Need batteries.

Binoculars: we had my old 8x21 bushell hiking binoculars, which didnt meet the standard:
    1) not enough magnification 8 v 10 or 12
    2) Kind of dark (later models increaswd from 21 to 25),
    3) Ordered adision 12x42 with cell phone adapter for next trip
