Carnival in Maastricht
We spent the weekend in Maastricht to see how the Dutch celebrate Carnival. After living on the Gulf Coast of Florida, I was used to seeing the purple, gold, and green of Mardi Gras. However, the festival here reminded me of the Culture Club lyric "Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream...red, gold and green"
People also dressed up here, but in a different way than back home. This was much more costume focused, but there were several folks who just wore brightly colored neon-patchwork overalls.
